Welcome to the latest issue of The Highlander Journal, where we explore the intersection of environmental humanities and indigenous knowledge across some of the Earth's most ecologically sensitive areas—the Arctic, Amazon, Himalayas, and South Asia. This edition emerges from the ongoing Ekologos project, a collaborative endeavor among academic institutions and research bodies from Norway, Brazil, and India, aiming to integrate diverse cultural perspectives into global climate resilience discussions. The issue underlines the crucial role of traditional practices in addressing modern environmental challenges. Highlights include discussions on the ecological tipping points in the Amazon, the impact of environmental changes on river communities in the Xingu area, and innovative approaches to climate-adapted cuisines in Nagaland. Through a combination of articles, photo essays, project reports and reflective pieces, this issue not only sheds light on pressing environmental concerns but also celebrates the richness of cultural knowledge that is essential to understanding and combatting these issues.
