This is the second volume of the Highlander Journal, and follows a long pause in which the website underwent a radical redesign and migration from Edinburgh University to the Highland Institute. The volume will also be the first to implement the rolling publication model in which submissions are published as they they come in, thus enabling fresh research to reach readers in the shortest time possible. Following the approach of the new website, namely our interest in providing a platform for Highland Asian visual anthropology, art, and photography, we aim in this volume to feature a series of visually rich photo essays.
